As a result of its proximity to Interstate 95, Cordish predicted that the Live! Casino & Hotel Virginia will generate more than 7,500 additional employment opportunities. Additionally, Cordish expressed its expectation that the facility will develop into a significant tourism destination in the state of Old Dominion over time.
Cordish and Bruce Smith Enterprises, which is run by Bruce Smith, a native of Virginia and a member of the National Football League Hall of Fame, presented the blueprints in response to a request for proposals that was issued by the City of Petersburg. Since 2008, the two businesses have been collaborating on a variety of additional initiatives, giving them the opportunity to work together.
There would be nearly 400,000 square feet of casino, hotel, and eating area at the proposed site, which is one of its key features. One thousand six hundred slot machines, forty-six live action tables, a poker room, a high limit slots area, and a sportsbook will be included in the gaming area.
A hotel with 200 rooms, an entertainment arena with 3,000 seats, eight different food options, and free surface parking are several of the additional on-site attractions that are planned.
The opening of an initial first phase casino is something that Cordish and Bruce Smith Enterprises plan to accomplish within the next year. The initial phase will consist of a total of 1,000 slot machines, 23 table games, a poker room that is solely dedicated to poker, a casino bar and restaurant and some parking.
Cordish has entered into a collaboration never before seen.
According to Cordish, the joint venture is the first arrangement of its kind in the gaming and entertainment business. It is the first initiative of its kind to have a business enterprise that is controlled by a minority minority as a co-development partner.
With a minority equity participation rate of fifty percent, the Petersburg ownership team will become the largest minority ownership opportunity in the gaming and hospitality business in the United States. Cordish goes on to say that it will serve as a template for other projects in Virginia and subsequently across the country.
This organisation is comprised of a diverse collection of notable minority-owned businesses and individuals. Among these are Billy McMullen, a former player in the National Football League, and the Reynolds Family, the family that established Reynolds Metals.
"We are extremely proud to join Bruce Smith and his team to present our vision for a transformational, world-class destination in Petersburg," Zed Smith, chief operating officer of Cordish, said. "We are looking forward to joining them in this endeavour." "As our development partner, Bruce embraces our fundamental principles, which include making investments for the long run and generating employment prospects and opportunities for the community.
We are dedicated to providing our visitors with experiences that they will never forget, as well as to treating our team members and the communities we serve as if they were part of our own family.
Smith continued by saying, "Having worked as a developer in the state for more than twenty years, I am extremely confident that we are the appropriate partners for this endeavour." In addition to having the same vision, we are also aware of the requirements that the city of Petersburg and its residents have.
"Together, we have the potential to accomplish remarkable work in Petersburg that will lead to the restoration of hope, the transformation of lives, and ultimately the infusion of a new life-giving energy that will be felt for many generations to come."
Cordish has the goal of expanding the Live! network.
In the United States, Cordish has been involved in a variety of projects involving land-based casinos. Two of these establishments are located in the state of Florida: the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa.
Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland and Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia are two examples of other Live! branded websites that are available to its customers. Furthermore, Cordish is currently working on the construction of the Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, which is scheduled to open in the year 2025.
A set of requirements must be met before the new Petersburg location may be considered. Among these are authorisation from the governor and the city of Petersburg, in addition to the appropriate licensing information.
